MAHENDRA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING , SALEM CAMPUS, MINNAMPALLI,SALEM-636106 Report of the Workshop on “Intellectual Property Right-What and How to Apply ” Date: 12.03.2016 The workshop titled “Intellectual Property Right-What and How to Apply ”was organized by Mahendra College of Engineering , Salem Campus, Minnampalli, Salem on 12.03.2016. The programme started with the invocation by invoking the blessings of the almighty at 10 AM. Welcome address was delivered by Dr.M.Suganthi-HoD/ECE. Presidential Address: The presidential address was proposed by the Principal Dr.R.Asokan. His address was on the importance, necessity and significance of Research and innovations. He mentioned the special aspect of a workshop and requested the participants to apply for IPR for their innovations. Felicitation address: The felicitation address was given by Dean/Academics Dr.N.Malmurugan. He delivered a speech by defining what IPR is and how to search the innovative ideas, need for Intellectual Property, Trade Marks and IPR. The workshop is also felicitated by Dean/Placement & Training Dr.S.Krishnakumar. He added up the how the Samsung, Airtel, Apple are getting Patents rights. Also he was motivating the participants to apply pattern rights for their novel and innovative ideas. Inaugural Address The chief guest profile was read by Dr.Anand HOD/EEE. The inaugural address was given by the Chief Guest Dr.S.P.Subramaniyan, Deputy Controller of Patents & Designs ,Pattern Office , Chennai. The chief guest started his inaugural address in the manner of professionals and thanked for the opportunity given. He encouraged the participants important of Pattern rights and benefits of the any innovative ideas. He explained that the Government of India stated this Patterns rights programme before 10 Years. Also he added up the procedure for revenue generation through the innovative products. He enlightened how the research paper could be converted to a product. He encouraged the participants that every year I am expecting 10 patterns from the Mahendra Group Institutions. The sessions came to an end with the vote of thanks.
